After graduating from the ‘Otto-Falckenberg Schule’, the celebrated  German Academy of Dramatic Art in Munich, he accepted engagements at leading theatres throughout Germany, among them „The Kammerspiele“ in Munich, the “State Theater Brunswick” and the “Deutsches Schauspielhaus” in Hamburg.

Early in his career he made his film debut on the big screen in the Film “Madam Bäurin” based on the best selling novel by Lena Christ. He starred in this widely acclaimed film with Hanna Schygulla of Rainer-Werner Fassbinder cinema fame and with Franz-Xaver Kroetz.

Since then Francis Fulton-Smith has appeared in more than 150 films mostly as leading man and had the opportunity of working together with international stars such as Maria Schneider, Jurgen Prochnov, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Greta Scacchi, Donald Sutherland, and on two occasions with Two times Academy Award Winning actor Christoph Waltz.

His ability to handle extremely complex and diverse character roles is clearly and movingly demonstrated in acclaimed productions such as “Gustloff”, “The Final Match”, “Dirty Bomb”, “Baltic Storm” “Love and Death on Java”, “Chief Inspector LaBrea” and “Your Mission, Father Castell”. His success as Dr. Kleist in “Circle of Life” continues unabated and the production has been sold to more than 30 countries around the globe.

However, his powerful performance as the young Bavarian Prime Minister Franz-Josef Strauss in “Affair Spiegel” in 2013 is undoubtebly the most important role played by Francis Fulton-Smith to date, with yet more to come.

Since the beginning of his career in 1990 he has worked to establish a substantial network of Actors, Directors, Producers, Distributors and Broadcasters around Europe.

With the establishment of his company Little Door Films, Francis Fulton-Smith is now preparing to add his part to the new challenges and goals of a fast growing and changing global media industry.
